Our story

TinkerTaro started in Singapore in 2018 from something very simple: we love our dogs a lot and wanted a way to keep a real part of them close.

Edwin, our founder, lives with a small “pack” of dogs at home. He wanted something more than photos or ink prints, so he started playing around with ways to capture their real nose and paw textures in silver.

It began as keepsakes just for his own family. Over time, friends and other pet parents started asking too — and that slowly became TinkerTaro, a small workshop making nose and paw-print pendants, rings and displays for families in Singapore.

Until today, every piece is still made one by one, by hand, using your pet’s actual imprint — never a generic mould or pattern.

The dogs behind the name

TinkerTaro is named after a mix of “tinker” (to make, to craft) and one of our own dogs, Taro.

The first nose prints Edwin ever cast in silver were from his own dogs at home. They still sit around the house — reminders of why this work matters.

Meet the humans

Edwin – Founder & Maker

Edwin is the one behind every piece — from taking the imprint, to casting in silver, to the last polish before it goes out to you.

He’s been in tech and building things for more than 20 years, but TinkerTaro is the most personal — it’s his way of combining his love for his own dogs with helping other families hold onto theirs, especially when pets are ageing, sick or have already crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Felicia – Support & Families

Felicia is usually the first person you talk to. She helps families from the first WhatsApp message all the way to updates and delivery, and also works with vets, groomers and aftercare partners.

Most pet parents “meet” her on WhatsApp first — she’s the one gently explaining options when you’re not sure what to do yet, especially during tough goodbye moments.

We often work with the people who already care for your pet — vets, groomers, aftercare teams — so the whole process is smoother and less stressful for you.

Vet clinics

For senior or medically fragile pets, we can coordinate with your vet to take nose or paw prints before/after appointments, during hospital stays or around surgery dates, where appropriate.

Groomers & trainers

Some keepsakes are made when pets are already calm and relaxed after grooming or training sessions, with the help of professionals your pet already trusts.

Cremation / aftercare teams

When a pet has already crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we may, with your permission, work directly with your aftercare provider to gently take an imprint within the available time window.

What matters to us

Gentle with your pet

The keepsake is important, but your pet comes first. If something feels too stressful for your dog or cat, we’d rather say “not today” than push it.

Respecting what you’re going through

A lot of people contact us during very emotional times — diagnoses, goodbyes, anniversaries. We try to keep things clear, kind and not pushy, even if timing is tight.

Honest about what’s possible

We’ll tell you frankly what can be done, what can’t, and what we’d do if it was our own pet. Each piece is made to be worn and used, not only for nice photos.

A few questions we often get

“Where are the keepsakes made?”

All keepsakes are designed, cast and finished in Singapore. The nose and paw-print imprints are taken locally, and the silver work is done in small batches, one piece at a time.

“Do you only work with dogs?”

Most of our keepsakes are for dogs, but we’ve also created pieces for cats and other small animals. If you’re not sure whether your pet’s nose or paw will work, just send us a photo for a quick check.

“Can I see more examples?”

Yes — you can browse our gallery on this site or on Instagram, and send us screenshots of any styles you like. We’ll let you know what’s possible for your pet.

“Is it okay if I don’t know what I want yet?”

Completely okay. Many people reach out just to ask what’s possible and what they might regret not doing. We’re happy to talk through options at your pace.
